About Gettlove
Our Mission
Gettlove is Dedicated to Ending Homeless in Los Angeles
Gettlove endeavours to help end homelessness in Los Angeles by supporting our most vulnerable neighbors through companionship, community, housing and advocacy.

Our History
Founded in 2005
Aileen Getty founded Gettlove in 2005 in response to homelessness in the Hollywood community. Gettlove was originally comprised of Aileen Getty and a handful of volunteers who wanted to help those experiencing homelessness with the innovative idea of asking them directly what they thought would help. In the early days, Gettlove operated a street food distribution service, case management and interim housing, and a drop-in center offering comfort, companionship, and a safe place to recover from the challenges of homelessness.
The agency initially focused on engagement and food distribution, but that changed in 2010 when Gettlove participated in the Home for Good effort, which created new pathways for accessing permanent housing for the most vulnerable members of our community. Gettlove became adept at procuring housing resources and assisting clients to navigate the housing process and attain long-term housing stability. Housing became a principal focus of the organization alongside companionship and advocacy and in 2012 Gettlove received the “Housing First” award from United Way in recognition of the ability to implement a permanent housing program designed specifically for the needs of people recovering from homelessness. The success of the housing program led to a better understanding of the needs of people recovering from homelessness and Gettlove created unique programing to provide unmet needs such as Representative Payee Services and healthcare advocacy.
